Shrine Fight Night VIII

Shamrock has been in an industry where people sometimes get hurt, broken bones, or might walk with a limp for a couple days after a fight. These things can hurt a fights pride but after a short break they will be ready to start training again. For a child who is struggling to fit in with a illness a couple of days is really years and years of pain. Shamrock Promotions has been involved in helping the Ansar Shrine Temple for 8 years in helping them fight for these children who wake up every morning just wanting to lead a normal life. The Shrine Fight Night is in its 8th year and has helped Ansar Shrine to get more members which translate into more money going to the Shriners Hospital for Children. This night has been a favorite of the officers of Shamrock Promotions. Its an event the entire event looks forward to every year. Shamrock MC Trevor Griffin states "It's really great to be on the Versus Network, Fox Sports Midwest, and even Fox International, but my favorite event is in Springield, IL. The Shriners welcome us with open arms and realize we also care about helping children." These event on Saturday April 5th should once again prove to be a great night for everyone.

St. Louis Fight Scene, September 22 Fights Ready

To say St. Louis is becoming a major location in the Fight Industry is an understatement. In the last 5 years St. Louis has put out some great fighting whether you look at Boxing, MMA, or Kickboxing. First looking at the boxing scene. Corey Spinks is the current IBF Lt Middleweight Champion.  DeAndre Lattimore is one of the top prospects coming up in the Lt Middleweight rankings.  Kevin Engel is currently ranked 31st in the world for the Lt Heavyweight division, and is currently a training and sparring partner for Current WBC and WBO Middleweight Champion Jermiaine Taylor. Let's not forget the amount of amateur boxers coming from the area, making it to the National Golden Gloves Tournament.

Now look at the MMA Industry. When you think about St. Louis MMA one name that comes to mind is Steve Berger. Berger is the original fighter in the MMA world to come from St. Louis.  In the late nineties some of the top MMA fighters started fighting in St. Louis events. Shonie Carter, Karo Parisyan, and Sean Sherk are all fighters that have graced the St. Louis Fight scene in their early careers. Now a new generation of MMA fighters are starting to make their starts in the St. Louis area, and some moving to the Midwest to start training with some of the best in their industries. Two Fighters in the IFL are Mike Corey and Pat Healy. Both have moved to expand their training and have started to make an impact in the MMA industry.

Kickboxing has always had a great presence in the St. Louis area. This can go back to the St. Louis Whirlwinds. Since then two top gyms have evolved into two of the top gyms in the world. Jesse Finney and Bennie Voyles have both taken numerous fighters to kickboxing tournaments and won more than 20 US and North American titles combined.  Kevin Engel and Timmie Connors are two fighters who were on the Houston Enforcers World Combat League (WCL) team last year.  Jesse Finney was the head coach. This team won the 2006 WCL Championship, because of this the World Combat League has relocated the team to St. Louis. The St. Louis Enforcers training camp being located at Head Coach Jesse Finney's gym, Finney's Championship Kickboxing, Boxing, and MMA.

The gym has been going crazy with over 40 fighters training at all times and ready to take any fights. The attitude has changed since both, Jesse Finney and Steve Berger, are actively training and fighting. They have brought in a wrestling coach to add to the combination of stand up, ground submission and now wrestling. This triple threat of skills has brought a deadly combination and training to the gym.

On Saturday September 22nd the St. Louis Enforcers will be holding a fight off for their starting positions. This will be in connection with Shamrock Promotions event The Midwest Fight Fest. This event will be made up of MMA, Boxing, and a special fight off for the WCL. The versus Network and WCL producers will be at the event and will be televising it for the 2007 TV coverage of the WCL. This year will also include a behind the scenes look at the fight game, starting with St. Louis. The TV crew will conduct interviews and follow the promoters, coaches, fighters, and fans through out the night to get the full experience of the fight games. Also, WCL Announcer Trevor Griffin will be the Announcer for the entire event. He is part of the contract Shamrock Promotions has with the WCL to run their entire 2007-2008 session. The session starts on Oct 20th in Denver, CO

Below is the fight card for Sept 22nd:

Mixed Martial Arts(MMA):  John Duever vs Jesse Colmer

Mixed Martial Arts(MMA):  Rocky Vercher vs Robert Junkins

WCL:  Kevin Engel vs Dwayne Lewis

WCL:  Isaac Diomande vs Michael Dean

WCL:  Kenny Loehr vs Steve Dement/Fernando Calleros

Ultimate Fight Party a Huge Succcess

Action packed is a phrase that could some up the Ultimate Fight Party. The Ultimate Fight Party is the joining of Boxing promotion company, Rumbletime Promotions, and MMA promotions company, Shamrock Promotions. This partnership is bringing together fight fans from both sports, and educating them how both sports can exist on one card. This past Saturday night the first of many to come events was held at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, MO. The stands were packed to see the Ultimate Fight Party. The event was made up of 6 Pro Boxing matches and 7 MMA matches. The night was kicked off by a pyro show which reflected something off of the WWE. Then the wars started.
