Xtreme Fight Party Huge Sell Out

Extreme Fight Party packed the house again this last Saturday night, March 6th, at the Stratford Inn, wetting the appetites of Saint Louis fight fans with the 4th in a row sold-out evening of kickboxing and mixed martial arts. The experience of watching some of Saint Louis’ best young fighters compete in front of nearly 1300 loyal fight fans is difficult to describe. Exciting would be an understatement. Whether you were sitting ringside with the fight just inches away or getting a birds-eye view from one of the three 30-foot screens, every seat in the house got a share of the action.

Those in attendance were treated to a showcase of thirteen action-packed fights. The first two contests were over in the first round, giving the crowd a taste of both a good submission and a solid TKO. This was followed by the mixed martial arts debut of Zack Skow, who trains out of Finney’s MMA and is known for his tenacious boxing skills. However, on this night his ground skills were put to the test. Skow impressed the audience by dominating his opponent on the ground for three straight rounds, winning by unanimous decision. The next four fights presented a wide range of MMA talents, with several first-round knockouts coupled with a strong second-round submission by Ryan Bensinger. This led into a hard-hitting match at the 2051b weight class that went the full three rounds, followed by Ricky Trevor in the night’s only kickboxing bout. Trevor, also a product of Finney’s MMA, overwhelmed his opponent with his aggressiveness and won by KO within 28 seconds of the first round. Fan favorite Mike Green entered the cage as he always does; to the awe-inspiring and thunderous roar of the crowd. Although Green came out strong and fought hard, he lost by submission in the closing seconds of the first round. And while you could feel the disappointment ripple through the room when it was announced that Brittany Anic’s opponent had left the building before the fight, it only illustrated how devoted her fan base truly is to this tough, young fighter. Anic, a trainer at Finney’s, thanked her fans for their support. The final match of the night gave the audience one of the fastest-paced rounds of the evening before Mike Brazzle brought the win home with a TKO in the first. Congratulations to all the fighters who made this night a success.

As if the action of the fights wasn’t enough, many of Saint Louis’ favorite professional fighters were on hand to highlight an upcoming fight announcement that no one will want to miss. Check the website in upcoming days for an official announcement. Next up will be the Battles for Fame at the Viking on May 8th, giving fans yet another chance to witness some of the best boxing, kickboxing and mixed martial arts Saint Louis has to offer.

New Comers Record Wins at Battles for Fame

On February 6th Finney’s MMA sent 7 fighters to the ring at the Viking Conference center. In boxing, Alex Brinkman and Milan Oscenan started the night off with an exhibition. Both fighters have been training hard, and made the transition from the classes to the competition team. Also, Nathan Brinkman completed against Joel Blair in a boxing match to get him ready for the Golden Gloves Finals on February 12th. In MMA, it was a night of newcomers taking the stage. First timer Alex King took his first fight after only 7 months of training in the classes, and won by TKO in the first round. Bill Sabourin, also a new comer, won by TKO in the first round. Eric Sutton made his return to the ring after over a year off, and recovering from knee surgery. He won by ground and pound in the first. MMA veteran Mike Green took on hard hitting Mike Bryant. Green reversed an ankle lock early to win by TKO in the first. Congrats to all the fighters who completed, and great job for all the hard work they put in making the transition from the fitness MMA classes to the competition team.
